6 Questions — An Interview with Bronwyn Allen, CEO, High Profile (Trusted Talent Experts)

Bronwyn, D CEO

For a number of years, Bronwyn Allen has participated in our learning sessions at the First Friday Book Synopsis.  In fact, High Profile has sponsored our “Books Giveaways” for the last three years.

We are grateful for this partnership. And, for a lot of reasons, we have grown to respect Bronwyn Allen and High Profile for their work in the DFW area. They know their stuff!

I interviewed Bronwyn for our blog. I think you will find this insightful.

A little about Bronwyn Allen:

Recently, one of our long-term partners, Bronwyn Allen, CEO of High Profile Staffing, was named a finalist in the D CEO Leadership Excellence Awards. This program recognizes leaders not just by results but by their cultures, ethical decision-making, and long-term impact.

In 1987, Bronwyn moved to Dallas after graduating from McNeese State University and began her career with High Profile as a recruiter. In 2000, she became president of the company and was named CEO in 2015.

During her tenure as CEO, the company has won numerous awards, including Dallas Business Journal’s Best Places to Work, Dallas Chamber’s Employer of Excellence, DFW SMA’s Recruiting Team of the Year, and one of five companies considered for North Dallas Business of the Year.

We wanted to spend a few minutes interviewing Bronwyn to gain her insights into leadership and the employment landscape.

• Randy Mayeux, First Friday Book Synopsis (FFBS): Bronwyn, congratulations on being named a finalist for the D CEO Leadership Excellence Awards. Thanks for taking a few minutes to share your perspective with us.

Bronwyn Allen: Thank you! I’m honored to be recognized, and I’m always happy to talk about leadership, recruiting, and what we’re seeing in today’s talent market.

• FFBS: Bronwyn, why do companies need to partner with a firm like High Profile? Why is finding the right people so difficult — and so important — in today’s business environment?

Bronwyn: One exceptional hire can accelerate growth and transform a team. The wrong hire can cost time, money, momentum, and morale. A strong search partner helps companies cut through that complexity by bringing industry networks, market insight, and a rigorous vetting process that internal hiring teams often don’t have the time or reach to execute on their own.

At High Profile, we specialize in three areas: Accounting & Finance, Human Resources, and Administrative placements. That focus gives us deep knowledge and relationships within each area.

Finding the right people is difficult because top talent is rarely “on the market.” The best candidates are often already employed, highly selective, and evaluating companies just as carefully as companies evaluate them.

Our job is not simply to find someone who is qualified. It’s to understand our client, their culture and long-term goals, and connect them with the right person.

• FFBS: How is the talent landscape changing with the growing use of Artificial Intelligence? What skills and qualities are becoming more valuable because of AI — not less?

Bronwyn: AI is a tool in the toolbox. It’s helping automate repetitive tasks and move work along faster, but it’s not going to replace the human side of business, especially when it comes to people.

We’re seeing employers expect candidates to know how to use AI in their day-to-day work. At the same time, critical thinking, communication, emotional intelligence, and strategic thinking are becoming even more important. You still have to know what questions to ask, use good judgment, and understand how the information applies to the business.

AI is also creating some new challenges in recruiting. We’re seeing more AI-generated resumes and applications, along with concerns about candidate authenticity and imposters. That makes it even more important to know who you’re talking to, ask the right questions, validate experience, and build real relationships.

The people who will stand out are the ones who know how to use AI to work smarter while still bringing the judgment, relationships, and human connection that technology can’t replace.

• FFBS: The Dallas–Fort Worth area continues to grow at a remarkable pace. How does High Profile keep up with the talent demands of companies operating in such a fast-growth environment?

Bronwyn: One of the biggest challenges in a high-growth environment is speed. Businesses are expanding, relocating headquarters, launching new divisions, and competing for many of the same high-performing professionals.

Recruiters have to understand not only who is qualified, but who is likely to be open to change, motivated by a specific opportunity, and aligned with a company’s culture and growth stage.

Staying ahead means building relationships continuously, not just when a position opens. Our specialization, trusted referrals, and real-time market knowledge allow us to move quickly when our clients need talent.

• FFBS: What are some of the biggest hiring mistakes companies are still making today  — especially in professional and executive roles?

Bronwyn: Many organizations underestimate the candidate experience. Today’s candidates evaluate employers just as much as employers evaluate them. Professionalism, transparency, and company reputation all play a major role in attracting top talent.

Another common mistake is moving too slowly. Top candidates are often considering multiple opportunities, and lengthy interview processes or delayed decisions can cause companies to lose great people.

Companies also need to remember that the interview process goes both ways. You’re evaluating the candidate, and they’re deciding whether your organization is the right fit for them.

• FFBS: Are you seeing changes in what candidates themselves are looking for in employers? What matters most to top candidates today?

Bronwyn: Today’s workforce is evaluating companies more holistically, asking not just “What does this job pay?” but “How will this role fit into my life, growth, and values?”

Culture also plays a huge role. Top talent wants competitive compensation, but they’re also looking for opportunity, flexibility, development, and leadership they trust.

Candidates research companies extensively, so employer reputation and authenticity matter more than ever. Companies that invest in their people, recognize performance, and create healthy workplace environments are going to have an advantage in attracting and retaining great talent.

• FFBS: And, as we wrap up, one bonus question… “What is one piece of advice you would give to leaders trying to build stronger teams in today’s environment?”

Bronwyn: Focus on trust. Build a trusting culture intentionally through consistency, clear communication, coaching, recognition, and following through on commitments.

Trust is built in the small moments. Doing what you say you’re going to do, being honest with people, and showing up consistently. When people know they are valued and can trust their leaders and each other, you build stronger teams and stronger relationships.
