Here is the line-up of books for the 2018 Urban Engagement Book Club – focusing on books dealing with social justice issues

Our selection for the January session

Our selection for the January session

{As i have written before, one cannot do two things at once.  I am currently teaching a Wintermester Class at Eastfield College, so I have very little time to blog.  Sorry about that}.

For those who are interested in books on Social Justice: each month, I speak at the Urban Engagement Book Club, sponsored by CitySquare.  We meet at noon  on the third Thursday, at the CitySquare Opportunity Center, 1610 Malcolm X Blvd, Dallas. (I have spoken at this gathering for over a decade).

For these presentations, I present the synopsis of the book, and then a leader from the community leads an after-synopsis reflection and discussion.

For next year, we have selected 12 more good books.  We will begin the year with the new Ta-Nehisi Coates’ book, We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy.  Here is the complete list.  Please mark your calendar, and come join us for some (or all) of these gatherings.
